Account Visibility & Privacy

Each account can be set to one of three visibility levels:

• Shared — Your partner can see the account balance, all transactions, and the account appears in household summaries. This is the default for joint accounts.
• Balance Only — Your partner can see the account balance in the net worth view, but cannot access individual transactions. Useful for personal savings where you want transparency on totals.
• Private — The account is completely hidden from your partner. It does not appear in their account list, dashboard, or any summaries.

Go to Accounts in the sidebar. Click on the account you want to adjust. In the account edit view, you will see the Visibility selector.

Choose Shared, Balance Only, or Private. The change takes effect immediately — your partner's view updates in real time.

Visibility affects what your partner sees across the entire app:

• Dashboard — Private accounts are excluded from your partner's net worth and spending summaries
• Budgets — Transactions from private accounts are not visible to your partner in budget progress
• Review — Only transactions from shared accounts appear in the monthly review
• Import — Both partners can import into shared accounts

The account owner always sees everything regardless of the visibility setting.
