Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using JoinFunds ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

JoinFunds is operated by [Company Name Ltd], registered in England and Wales (Company No. [Pending]). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and JoinFunds. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

2. Description of Service

JoinFunds is a multi-tenant household finance application designed for UK couples. The Service enables you to import bank transactions via CSV files, categorise spending, set budgets, track savings goals, and collaborate with a partner on household finances.

The Service is available in two tiers:

• Starter tier: up to 3 accounts, 10 custom categories, 5 imports per month, single-user only
• Plus tier: unlimited accounts, unlimited custom categories, unlimited imports, and the ability to invite one partner to your household

3. User Accounts

To use JoinFunds, you must create an account using either Google OAuth or a magic link sent to your email address. You agree to the following:

• You may only create one account per person
• You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating your account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any activity that occurs under it
• You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account

4. Household Membership

JoinFunds organises financial data around households. The following rules apply:

• Each user may belong to one household at a time
• Households have two roles: owner and partner
• The household owner can invite a partner using a secure 7-day invitation link
• The owner can remove a partner from the household at any time
• Partners can leave a household voluntarily at any time
• Ownership can be transferred from one member to another

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use JoinFunds for any unlawful or prohibited purpose. In particular, you must not:

• Use the Service for any illegal activity, including money laundering or fraud
• Upload fabricated or fraudulent financial data with intent to deceive
• Access the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers, or scripts) without our prior written permission
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or households

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of JoinFunds is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

You retain full ownership of your financial data. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over the transaction data, budgets, categories, or other financial information you upload or create within the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

JoinFunds and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by JoinFunds and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. This includes, but is not limited to, the application design, user interface, categorisation algorithms, and documentation.

You retain all rights to your financial data. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your data to us.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

JoinFunds is a budgeting and financial tracking tool. It does not constitute financial advice and is not a substitute for professional financial planning, accounting, or tax advice. You should consult qualified professionals for financial decisions.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of exchange rates, categorisation suggestions, or any automated calculations provided by the Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JoinFunds shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, whether in an action in contract, tort, or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or are using the Service in a manner that could harm other users or the platform.

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon deletion, a 30-day grace period applies during which your account can be recovered. After this period, all associated data is permanently deleted.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, intellectual property, and governing law) shall continue in full force.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify existing users by email or through an in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
